When we think of fast food, we predominately think of food that is unhealthy and going to give us a heart attack if we keep eating it. Nobody ever really associates fast food with anything that is healthy. But these days, fast food companies are starting to realize that more people want to eat healthier. In order for these companies to keep people’s business, they are adjusting their menus to include healthier meal choices. McDonalds started serving more salad choices a few years ago because they wanted to get nutritious conscious people to eat at their restaurants. Some fast food restaurants are even cooking their regular food in a more healthy way, like Zaxby’s. All of their food is chicken based and they let the customer choose between grilled or fried chicken. They even have Cobb salads which are like a meal in themselves because they have lettuce, chicken, tomato, onion, bacon and boiled egg in it. But, you are probably wondering if there are any healthy fast foods that are not salads. Actually there are at Dominos Pizza! They actually have a vegan pizza with gluten free crust that you can order and have delivered. Just load it up with fresh mushrooms, baby spinach and diced tomatoes. The pizza will only have 6 grams of fat per slice and 133 calories.
Believe it or not, Starbucks has a portable lunch that you can order as well. It is called the “Protein Bistro Box” and it is made of hardboiled egg, apple slices, grapes, multigrain bread and cheddar cheese. Then finally, you can get the Sour Cream and Chive Potato at Wendy’s. This is a meal that has reduced-fat sour cream on top of a hot potato! Very simple, but very tasty and it has less than 4 grams of fat.
